Atlantic Rowing - Matthew takes stock of the Race

upload/News/DE/Atlantic_Rowing_Erfolgsmeldung/Atlantik-Row_Bildleiste.jpg Here is a final quote of Matthew looking back on the Race after the blisters on the hands hopefully have healed:

"The Atlantic Row was a fantastic opportunity to raise money for important charities that are important to us [„Brain Tumor UK" and „Shrewsbury House, Liverpool"]. During this great challenge, many people helped us to achieve a great success in rowing across the Atlantic. We would very much like to thank FORTIS for providing us with robust and accurate timepieces that remained on our wrists throughout the voyage and therefore watches that we will cherish forever. (...)

There is more to the Atlantic Rowing Race 2009 - there's been a huge journey, life experiences and an event that will become historic for all the good and bad. It's been a race full of unique individuals that have etched a clear mark on the sport of ocean rowing. The only way that races of this nature can continue is for people to take that chance, to push themselves beyond that normally expected and to see horizons not boundaries."

FORTIS thanks both of them for their commitment on this draining experience!
To see HOW draining it was, check out the pictures from Charlie and Matthew rowing over the Atlantic ocean and shortly after their arrival on the Caribbean island of Antigua after 118 days of rowing:
